Fanny, a dog's dog.

I'm Kim, I've been sharing foster (custody) for Fanny with a fellow rescuer in NM for the past several months.

Our guess is that Fanny is a Smooth Fox Terrier Mix. She is nearly a year old and she has been in our care since June. She has been spayed and had gone through private training.

In the interest of full disclosure, she is a hard case.  She has shown herself to be a perfect companion to most any dog.  She has quickly befriended several mamma dogs with pups in our rescue and the moms have let her share puppy play duty.  For a person/family in need or want of a best friend for a lonely dog in their home, Fanny would be a good choice.

Fanny is not people friendly however.  I have a very active household with adults and children coming and going frequently throughout the day.  She will bark and run away from visitors.  With visitors that she is familiar with, she will do what I call a run by nosing.  A harmless tap on the leg with her nose.  Sometimes if she really likes a person she will do what seems like a nip to unsuspecting folks, but it is really an effort to get them to play with her, like she would do with a puppy.  She is always on the lookout for me and my husband.  If it looks like we are getting to close she will even awake from a sound sleep and run off.  We can all catch her with some effort.

The other foster mom lives on a property in the mountains near Taos.  She is single with many pets of her own.  The first night that Fanny was there, she ran off.  But the next day she came back and found her way into the doggy door.  She jumped on the couch and slept for the rest of the day and night.  She never ran off again.  Fanny enjoys the comfort of home.

The right home for her will come along.  If you think you would like to meet her I would be happy to set up a time for a visit in my home. Please email irsqk9s@coloradopuppy.org
